Transition Brighton & Hove - Step Zero
Step Zero is a small group of local volunteers aiming to bring together the collective skills and creativity in Brighton & Hove.
Their aim is to get together to respond to the challenges of Climate Change and Peak-Oil aiming to evolve a Sustainable Low Energy Future.
The team is also working hand – in – hand with Brighton Sunny Day to promote the event and its concept.
Step Zero is arranging a public meeting ‘Transition Brighton & Hove’ on the 25th of July 2007 and would encourage members of the public to attend the meeting. Details on the meeting’s agenda and venue can be found at the Step Zero’s website.
The Green Workshop
The Green Workshop is a mobile education unit offering advice and information about local and national reduce / re-use / recycle opportunities. They work closely with the community and are constantly researching and setting up new schemes. They are currently developing this project in order to set up a permanent base; The Green Centre.
Purepaint
Purepaint is a painting and decorating company based in Sussex that uses non-toxic, low-odour, eco-friendly paint. We offer an eco friendly design and decoration service, but if you wish to D.I.Y we can supply you with eco friendly products and offer advice.
Greenmop
Greenmop was started by Racheal Hughes. As an eczema, asthma and allergy sufferer, she insists on avoiding chemical products because she can feel the chemicals and toxins burning her skin, inhibiting her breathing and irritating her eyes.
Natural, bio-degradable, non-toxic alternatives are available and are just as effective. They are not harmful to you, your family and pets, or your colleagues and customers, and the environment. And, frankly, they smell a whole lot better!
So, at Greenmop, we insist on using only green products. And we know eco friendly, ethical products are sometimes difficult to find in supermarkets. That's why we have our greenmop shop!
Sunpowered
We are a trailblazing innovative environmental protection organization. Formed in 1994 as a direct result of AGENDA 21. This agenda resulted from the Earth Summit (Rio 1992). We have experience in all forms of renewable energy, i.e. Solar, Wind, Hydro, Hybrid, Wave, Etc. Our systems are designed to conform with the Agenda 21 Earth summit environmental stipulations most prudently. Thus ensuring the most economic methodology, of which we have acquired from our extensive experience in this form of work. We achieve our goals with the installation of "state-of-the-art" Sunpowered systems into both old and new properties. We believe every new dwelling built should incorporate alternate energy systems. We are also passionate in our mission of promoting the use of renewable energy so that we may pass on to future generations a self sustaining eco-system rather than pollution and global warming.

Southern Solar
Howard Johns from Southern Solar (a company that sells solar power products) has teamed up with Helios, the Greek Olympian Sun God, and combined they’ll be juicing up (supplying electricity for) our Musical PA Sound System by Solar Power for the various Artists performing at Brighton Sunny Day. Southern Solar – the company itself will also be there.
Earthship Brighton
In Stanmer Park, Brighton, stands The Earthship – and like John Conner from The Terminator Trilogy - living “off the grid”. The Earthship gets all the energy it needs from Wind and Solar Power. Built on the principle of The Ecological Footprint - how much impact or Natural Resources are pillaged per person per project - the building is built out of tyres and cans and other eco-friendly stuff, but not out of sweets like the Witches House in Hansel and Gretel.
Brighton City Singers
These musical rebels need no introduction unless you haven’t heard of them of course! They number over 70 members and like some possessed evangelical gospel choir they’ll be belting out – especially for Brighton Sunny Day – their very own rendition of the Sam Cooke classic, ‘A Change is Gonna Come’.
Brighton Peace & Environment Centre
Their offices and shop are opposite Brighton Train Station and they’re involved in so much good stuff in general that having a sniff around their shop or website would enlighten you infinitely more than any blurb that this humble old blurbster could muster up.
Monodraught
Another company that is actually making a practical material contribution to making the planet a little greener and a little safer by providing alternative heating and lighting methods for buildings. Oh yeah, and it makes some money too, just for fun.
Battery Vehicle Society
Tapping into the Spirit of Creativity & Engineering & Science, all the club members of BHV have either invented – from scratch – his/her own battery powered car or they drive a vehicle of similar principle. Some of these club members will be riding down from London to Brighton and ending their journey at the Brighton Sunny Day Event.
LCE Archimed
Nick Lomax from Lomax Cassidy & Edwards Archimed Architectural Practise responsible for the Award Winning Brighton Library will be joining Brighton Sunny Day to illustrate the Library’s Ecological Footprint (if we can drag him away from his cabinet of trophies!).
Juice FM
Juice FM have said they’re coming along to the party – Cosmic Candy! Once we have control over the AIR it’s a small baby-step to taking over the world. This is just the beginning…
Brighton & Hove City Council
Our resident Environmental Council Workers will be on hand to offer expert advice and give out literature on the matter of running a cleaner and greener household. These guys are so deep and hardcore that they make the usual “turn-off-the-light-when-you-leave-the-room” brigade look like a bunch of uneducated thugs. And if our Environmental Council Workers do give out any literature, beware; there are tiny microchips and cameras inside those innocent looking bits of paper and if anyone disposes of those bits of paper in a Non-Green way then….I’ve said too much….why do you think Alien Abductions happen?

David Shetcliffe of Brighton Solar Projects is the brain that planted the seed of this event way back in the days of black and white TV in 2004 (the 1st Brighton Sunny Day) and he truly is, literally, our very own Green Giant. David is a Solar/Renewable Energy Consultant and will be on site to give advice for free …

A chipper and cheerful company that offer cleaner and greener energy for your homes or businesses or outdoor toilets (if there are no electricity mains connections) because they do Solar Power and the flashily entitled Photovoltaic Power. Where are the Vulcans? These guys do not mess about, especially with product names like that. Plus they will be dishing out for free, Yes, for free; A couple of hundred energy saving bulbs.
Natures Treats
Just like Big Brothers' Chantelle, the International Celebrity and soon to be next President of the USA or the next Pope, Chris, the owner of Natures Treats, is most definitely, "Living the Dream". Not only will he be selling his amazingly tasty Eco-Friendly Raw Cakes and other High Energy Foods, but, he'll be driving to BSD in, and displaying at BSD, his Vegetable Oil Powered Car what he converted from Diesel all by himself, bravo.
